The 200 year old private estate at Glanusk borders the river Usk in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is the home of the Legge-Bourke family.
In the 1980s, the shooting was opened to a small number of syndicates who carefully kept quiet about their find. Then a few years ago, shooting stopped altogether. From 2010, the estate has re-opened and the constant demand for the shoot days on offer is testimony to the quality of the sport at Glanusk. Mark Coleman has re-developed and enhanced the original shoot, creating new drives and challenges for guns and so providing one of the top game shooting days out in Wales.
“ Each season we have a cross section of guests. Some who have shot here before, some who know Glanusk by repute and some who know the quality of shooting and hospitality that we offer. Many of our teams have become repeat bookings, which for us is the benchmark of the quality of sport and hospitality we are now offering.”
“ We dropped some of the less challenging drives, They've been replaced with more of the high bird drives that show Glanusk off at its best. We're delighted with the results and we'll go further in the future seasons with at least four more drives to extend the most ambitious shots”
“ This is fantastic ground, It's so rare for the setting and the topography to combine so perfectly for shooting. It could have been made for it.”
“ Thank you for looking after us all so well, I thoroughly enjoyed it and could not have had a better day. Lunch was delicious and a long way removed from the normal shoot fare!”
“ That was a magical day, exceptional in every respect apart from the marksmanship of the guns. I'm reverting to my side by sides! You take such obvious pride in running your shoot in a very personal ( and remarkably relaxed) way and all my guests loved the day. Lunch was immaculate, wines too.”
